I remember when...

one of my sons, as a toddler, would holler out, “..I do it my own self..!” ..as an older sibling or parent would try to assist.  So determined to be independent, that it was sheer joy watching him figure things out, once I realized that was his nature.  He loved using his brain that way.  He was NOT being stubborn. Fortunately, I saw that and began putting him in safe environments where he could do just that.. ‘do it his own self’!
