Everything seems to be coming up ROSES… And Almonds!

High levels of vitamin A are contained in the two featured items this month. Vitamin A is clinically shown to increase skin-cell turnover and improve Vitamin C absorption which evens skin tone. Both Almond oil and Rose otto are velvety to the skin, leaving a softening on facial lines… Rose has powers as a romantic aphrodisiac and sexual rejuvenator.

The most famous Rose is the pink-red Damascus rose. So legendary for its Bulgarian valley aroma.  It’s cultivated near the white rose; it’s said the two growing side by side strengthens their relationship to colder harsh weather and disease. An aphrodisiac is something that is calming and stimulating at the same time. These two are smoooooothe talkers!

Both aging and acne can lead to hyperpigmentation of the skin; adding both Almond oil and Rose otto to your face routine will be a game changer with these aromatic treasures

Often Rose absolute and Rose otto are confused: SIMPLY PUT?!
Rose absolute is solvent extracted
Rose otto is steam distilled

HUGE difference in price to distill.  Steam distilling can damage the soft petals more easily, costing plant material, if not handled perfectly.  Solvent distillation is faster and more economical for perfumes.  All skin care specialists agree that a steam distillation is the preferred method for daily facial support.  No perfumery would ‘waste’ their money on a steam distillation.  Absolute all the way.  The Rose otto will have a slightly more powdery scent than the Rose absolute.  Wonderful with other face nectar oils!

Almond oil can be an allergen!  Be sure it’s safe for you and those you apply it to.  If it’s agreeable… it’s ONE OF THE BEST!  Super as a base to eye care creams or amazing as an eye makeup remover.  Gliding it across your body or a loved one is a special treat with its soft sweet qualities.

Here are two quick easy skin care ideas:

Makeup remover in a blink!
3 drops Rose, otto
15 mL bottle
Warm rose otto in palm/pocket, add drops to Almond oil in bottle and swirl.  Add 1-2 drop to finger tips and smear through eye make up. Rinse completely with warm water.

EZ Face moisturizer
6-8 drops Rose otto
30 mL bottle
Warm rose otto in palm/pocket, add drops to Almond oil in bottle and swirl. Apply 7+ drops to palm and smear across face, including the gentle eye area and neck/decolitate.
ENJOY THE DECADENCE… Stock up on the sweet scent of Rose for Valentine’s Day!
Peace + love!

BALSAM FIR &WINTERGREEN

Two aromas that when brought together, wildly remind you of the Holiday season!  Add a drop of Cinnamon and poof, it’s our Holiday Pine Cone blend!

What do the two oils really do for the body?  How do they affect the emotions of the mind?
The ‘chemical components’ in the makeup of these two Essential oils are penetrating to the mucous membranes.  Meaning?  They dissolve congestion, via olfactory receptors (smelling) or in an applied oil to the chest.  Essential oils AREN’T REALLY OILY… in fact they are quite drying, to the contrary! They need to be added to a carrier oil like Olive, Almond or Jojoba plant oils, to be slowly absorbed into the skin and stay.  If no carrier? They will quickly evaporate off the skin.

WINTERGREEN is not to be ingested…  It’s mostly for topical applications and for the diffuser.  I know it smells like the “WintOgreen” Lifesavers candies.. But don’t do it! If you are a chemist and absolutely recognize it’s potency, it’s used in mouthwash gargles and for flavoring candy/gum/toothpaste, but heavily diluted.  It’s just lovely on spasms or achy muscles and even inhaling when feeling nauseous. It will brighten any earthy scent and uplift practically any emotion!  It’s cooling and moisturizing in nature.

BALSAM FIR is a massage therapist’s dream for relaxing the nervous system! It is more mild to the skin than Pine oil.  It reminds us of a deep forest and of course, the holiday seasonal “Christmas tree”. It’s often used in colognes and beard oils but watch the amount as it’s irritating on sensitive skin if not properly diluted.  By property/nature it’s heating and drying.  The opposite of Wintergreen!  Try blending with Patchouli oil in massage too.

Two easy DIY blends:

HOLIDAY JAZZ
6 oz water in diffuser
2 drops Wintergreen

OH MY ACHY MUSCLES
1 oz Jojoba/Olive or other carrier (NOT COCONUT)
4 drops Balsam Fir
~massage onto spasms/achy body as desired
WHAT ARE TWO COMMONLY USED ESSENTIAL OILS?

WHAT ARE TWO COMMONLY USED ESSENTIAL OILS?

WHAT ARE TWO COMMONLY USED ESSENTIAL OILS?

And why?   Can they be used on the skin and with kids.. How about those with a compromised immune system?

One is very camphorus, (dissolves mucus) the other, OFF THE CHART with d-limonene a powerful antiviral.  Any guesses??
Imagine the aroma of a wet rainforest that is producing a citrus scent.  Mmmmmm, the very thought initiates healing in my body immediately!
Let’s talk about WHAT/WHY these two are such a great pair in ‘November’!
‘d-Limonene’ is a component in both oils. It’s clinically proven to activate white blood cells and is antibacterial as well as antiviral.  Orange and Grapefruit oils contain the highest percentage of this amazing health wizard!  Cold and flu season are up in November, keep these two at bay!
‘Cineole 1,8’ is a component in Eucalyptus globulus, that dissolves mucus, “mucolyctic”. It’s high in camphor. This is outstanding for phlegm build up in the lungs and even joints of the body!  Don’t use it IF an acute asthma attack is happening.  It’s super for prevention of lung issues.

There are THREE types of Eucalyptus we have at Savitur… this is the #1 MOST COMMON Essential oil in the medicinal cabinet! And this is the species.  Globulus, the most camphorous of the three.

Most cold pressed Essential oils are phototoxic.  Sweet Orange is NOT!  That means you can add it to your body creams for a fresh scent and not only will your skin be okay.. You’ll boost immune properties while uplifting your mood, with it’s citrusy aroma.  Kids love it and there are no contraindications for elderly or those on medications.

Here are two easy immune boosting recipes:
(safe for kids too!!)

CHEST RUB
30 mL Olive or Jojoba oil
3 drops Eucalyptus globulus
4 drops Sweet orange
Apply liberally to chest/back or over achy joints

Citrus Rainforest diffuser blend
8 oz water in diffuser
4-5 drops Orange
3-4 drops Eucalyptus
